VICKIE CURRY

Picture
Picture
Originally from Texas, Vickie Lee (Floyd) Curry has lived the majority of her life in the majestic mountains of Scott Valley California. Migrating from southern California was the great unknown for her and her husband, Bob, and the adjustment period was massive
and sometimes uncomfortable, but when they found themselves nestled into the community through the healthcare industry, they felt right at home.

Vickie served as an incredible licensed vocational nurse and was a pioneer in women’s healthcare and pediatrics for Scott Valley. Her quest for a peaceful soul and her love of the beauty that
surrounds this area has grown along with her grace and artistic talents.

As many artists can relate to, she doesn’t see herself as the artist that she is, but it is in her soul to create and spread love and comfort through her knitted work. Each of her handmade knitted works feels like grandmas hands giving you a tender hug and a sweet word of advice.

As a teenager Vickie entered her hand sewn gowns and outfits into contests and to her surprise, would often win with her attention to detail and natural talent. She also dabbled in a greeting card business for a time with her beautiful photographic eye. After
suffering an almost blinding eye injury in 2007, she decided to pick up knitting again to “strengthen her eyes”, and sure enough, it worked. She soon fell in love with the feel of the yarns, the colors and the finished products. Despite the learning curve and the eye
injury, Vickie has surpassed her own expectations of “just healing her eye” and has become a lover of knits. You can often find her enamored with a certain yarn and eager to see what kind of creation it flows into. Sometimes a hat, a scarf, a cowl, or a
children’s poncho all unique and always with a little touch of fun.

Persuaded by her daughter, friends and loved ones, she decided she would yet again, enter another great unknown and begin to share her craft with a larger part of the community through the wonderful Marble Rim Gallery. Vickie is excited for another adventure in this community and wants everyone to have “a little something” that she
has “handmade with love."
